FOOTBALL TEAMS – Congratulations to Portsmouth who have won the FA Cup for only the second time in their history after beating Cardiff City 1-0. This is the also only the second time in the last 30 years that a team outside London, Manchester or Liverpool has won the FA Cup. FOOTBALL TEAMS - Congratulations to Manchester United who have won the English Premiership League after a two-nil won at Wigan. UNIVERSITIES – Congratulations to High Wycombe after Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (BCUC) was informed that it has met all the necessary criteria for the award of university title, and will become the new University in Buckinghamshire subject to Privy Council approval of the institution’s new name. FOOTBALL TEAMS - Liverpool win the FA Cup 3-1 on penalties against West Ham after the final ends 3-3 after extra-time. This means Liverpool, who are currently in third place have closed the gap to three wins from Manchester who have 15 wins in total with London still well clear at the top on 27 wins. UNIVERSITIES – Seven new universities have been created this Summer in the cities of Bath, Canterbury, Chester, Liverpool, Southampton, Winchester and in the town of Northampton. This means Bath, Canterbury and Southampton are now the headquarters of two universities each and Liverpool now has three universities.
